76ers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
All eyes are on Elton Brand at 76ers training camp. Halfway through the six-day camp at Penn State, Brand is already making a very good impression. The Sixers signed Brand, a two-time All-Star, to a five-year, $82 million contract in July. He fills their glaring need for somebody who can score down low, demand a double team and complement Samuel Dalembert inside on the defensive end. The 29-year-old Brand is coming off a season in which he missed the first 74 games with a torn left Achilles tendon. He reported to camp confident that the Achilles would hold up to scrimmaging and running after working out in Philadelphia prior to the start of camp. "He looks fine," Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said.

Pacers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
The Pacers have taken on a new motto this season: Team Ego. No longer will one player be above the rest of his teammates, which occasionally happened in the past. The Pacers know it's going to take a team effort if they expect to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2006. That's why they're in no rush to anoint a new leader to replace Jermaine O'Neal, who was traded to Toronto during the offseason. "This is not something you just throw around lightly," swingman Mike Dunleavy said. "Quite frankly, I think it's a personal issue amongst the team and we'll work it out as the season goes along. I don't think it's something (where) you anoint somebody or somebody comes out and says they're a leader.

Wizards Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Healthy at last. That summed up the way center Etan Thomas feels these days, and this is saying a lot when one considers where Thomas was at this time last year. Thomas was supposed to enter last season as the incumbent starter. However, open-heart surgery one year ago ended his 2007-08 season prematurely and put his career in jeopardy. "Man, it feels great to be out there and running with the guys again—everything feels great," Thomas said. He doesn't mind that he'll be coming off the bench to back up teammate Brendan Haywood, the player whose starting position Thomas seized two years ago in training camp. "I never doubted that I would come back, but it was very frustrating at times," he said. Thomas underwent surgery to repair his aortic...
