Chambers likely to sit Week 6
Chargers wide receiver Chris Chambers missed practice Thursday and it's likely that he'll miss Sunday night's home game against New England. Chambers, who has five touchdown catches, sprained his ankle Sunday in a loss at Miami. Chambers said he can't remember a similar injury putting him on the sideline. "It really doesn't compare because I haven't had much the last two, three years," Chambers said. "In the offseason, you may tweak a hamstring, you may do something but the offseason's nothing. Whereas getting it in the thick of the season, I haven't had this come up in an awful long time so I just gotta manage it the best way I can."

Royal practices on Thursday
Broncos WR Eddie Royal (ankle) returned to limited practice reps Thursday after sitting out Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 6 vs. Jacksonville. Head coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday Royal is expected to be available against the Jaguars (2-3) on Sunday. When Royal got hurt Week 5 against the Bucs, Glenn Martinez stepped in and made big plays on offense and special teams, and if Royal's not ready, he'll get plenty more chances this weekend.

The Falcons have a major chink in their 3-2 armor. The pass defense has been hemorrhaging yards. Last week, Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers passed for 313 yards. Carolina's Jake Delhomme threw for 294 yards the week before. The Falcons have young cornerbacks in second-year men Chris Houston and Brent Grimes, a first-year starter. Also, nickel back Chevis Jackson is a rookie. They are backed up by former Denver Bronco Domonique Foxworth. Veteran safeties Lawyer Milloy and Erik Coleman are the traffic cops directing things from back deep in the multiple zone coverages the Falcons throw at teams. Coleman said there hasn't been just one thing going wrong. "That's just something that we have to work on, is finishing plays," Coleman said.
